What It Was Like Teaching SEO at the Southern Bride Workshop in Seaside, Florida

If you told us three years ago that we’d be teaching SEO at a luxury wedding workshop in 30A, we’d probably laugh — and then immediately start manifesting it.
But last month, that dream came true. Southern Bride Magazine invited North+South Marketing Agency to speak at their exclusive three-day workshop and styled shoot in Seaside, Florida — and we were beyond honored to be part of the lineup.
From the moment we arrived, everything about the event was next-level. A stunning beachside house. Thoughtfully curated details. A group of insanely talented photographers ready to grow. It was the perfect setting for what turned out to be one of our favorite teaching moments to date.
Making SEO Make Sense for Creatives
Our goal walking into that room wasn’t to impress anyone with tech speak or overwhelm photographers with jargon. Instead, we focused on making SEO feel approachable. Within the first five minutes of our talk, you could feel the energy shift — from hesitation to clarity.
We broke the session into three parts:
- SEO Foundations (how Google actually ranks your site)
- The Hidden Power Moves (from using alt text strategically to how blog titles should be written)
- Quick Wins + Long Game Tools (so everyone left with something they could do today)
What made it extra special was seeing the lightbulb moments happen live. One photographer said she’d been avoiding her blog for years because she “didn’t know what to say.” At the end of the workshop, we exchanged Insta accounts so that we could get her back on track with the signature North + South blog post subscription.
Another photographer told us, “I’ve paid for SEO help before, but this is the first time I actually understood what it all meant.” That’s exactly why we do what we do.
A Weekend Full of Connection, Education, + Creativity
After the workshop, we spent the evening connecting over dinner at Mero — and let’s just say the crab cakes alone were worth the trip. The next day was dedicated to the styled shoots, and wow. Each set was dripping with editorial elegance, and every attendee had time to photograph each look without feeling rushed or crowded.
It was such a joy to witness the creative magic that unfolded — and to see our new friends immediately start applying what they learned to their own websites and online presence. Education followed by implementation? That’s our favorite combo.
What We Took Away (Besides Seashells + Sunset Photos)
We left Seaside feeling inspired, sun-kissed, and more confident than ever in the importance of education that meets people where they are. SEO doesn’t have to feel confusing or reserved for the “techy” crowd. With the right tools (and the right team backing you), it can feel fun, empowering, and completely within reach.
